LEMON SHUTS OUT SOX WITH FOUR HITTER, 3-0.
Cleveland, June 15 -
Behind the support of 51,360 at Muncipal Stadium, Bob Lemon ran his record to 9-3 with a four hit shutout against one of the league's strongest lineups as Cleveland blanked the Red Sox, 3-0. Joe Gordon hit a three-run circuit clout in the fourth off Mel Parnell for all the support Lemon would need. The victory put the Tribe only a half game away from Boston in first place with two more contests remaining in this Series. Bob Feller (6-4) is expected to toe the rubber for Cleveland, and Joe Dobson (7-3) the same for Joe McCarthy's troops.

Boston, June 15 - The Boston Braves moved atop the Senior Circuit as ace Johnny Sain moved to 6-6 with a seven hit shutout against the Chicago Cubs, 7-0, before a nighttime crowd of 24,124 at Braves Field. Welcome to my replay of the 1948 baseball season, a season that has been described outside the City of New York as one of the best ever! This is a continuation of my replay effort beginning with the 1946 season. All major league statistical references are from my 1946 and 1947 replays. This project uses Baseball for Windows by Miller Associates, Inc. For those familiar with this software, I am using Cookie Lopez II as the micromanager and the season disk is a FPE imported disk with Bill Staffa's Merlin program. Actual lineups and transactions are used. Special thanks to Terry Simpkins for his assistance with this replay.
