Welcome!

This site is to share events, simulated and historical, experienced and learned, during my re-creation of classic baseball seasons. See the links below for previous replays. And the memories are not just for the summertime as I am also replaying the NFL and AFL seasons of the Super Bowl era using Second and Ten Football.

The current baseball replays are 1968 and 1920 using Diamond Mind Baseball, and a 1968 AFL and NFL football replay. Enjoy!

2001:a space odyssey

I believe I mentioned this earlier, but the movie,2001:a space odyssey, came out this weekend. I went with some friends to go see it last night. Someone made the decision not to see the movie sober,so we did not. I really found myself lost in the imagery. Not a word was spoken for so long that it started to freak me out a little bit. The end was a complete trip. We all walked out of the theater each with our own interpretation of the movie. Then,I overheard someone behind us,and the movie then made some sense to me. This guy was saying that at the end of the movie,Dave looked in the mirror and saw himself as an old man. That is symbolic of how mankind views itself. We are at the end of our evolution. But in reality,we are just at the beginning. We are still infants to the universe. That really made sense to me,and what a wild thought with all that is going on. You watch the rioting and wars on T.V. and you really think our civilization is falling apart. But then there’s the thought that this is just the beginning, and maybe there is some hope for us after all.

But in baseball, there perhaps is no hope for the Yankees. They are the only winless team, and even though it’s only been three games, nobody thinks this team has a chance. Yesterday,Joe Pepitone broke his elbow throwing the ball back into the infield. Unbelievable. Dean Chance probably pitched one of the best game of the season so far,but everyone is looking at the negatives in New York. The Twins and Orioles are now the last of the undefeateds. But,come tomorrow night, there will only be one undefeated team. How do I know that? The Twins travel to Baltimore tomorrow. Reggie Smith and the Red Sox knocked the Indians off the list of the unbeatens, and the Phillies rocked Juan Marichal with four home runs to hand the Giants their first loss.
