One interrupted month into the season and it’s the Cleveland Indians and St. Louis Cardinals with the early lead. The Cardinals are in front in a little more dominant fashion as Bob Gibson leads the team. Cleveland has three of its starters listed atop the ERA leaderboard for the American League. It is no surprise that [...]
If you think about it, four new baseball teams will exist due to the decision of one man. Charlie Finley took the Athletics and left Kansas City six months ago. So now, not only does Oakland have the A’s, but the Royals will be in Kansas City, the Pilots in Seattle, and two new National League [...]
I believe I mentioned this earlier, but the movie, 2001: a space odyssey, came out this weekend. I went with some friends to go see it last night. It is still in the early stages of the experiments, but time is not feeling quite right for me. This weekend seems like it’s lasted a week or even longer. Everyone is still reeling about Dr. King. The riots seemed to have calmed down maybe because tomorrow is Easter Sunday. The dragnet for his killer is [...]
It is a welcome relief to open the newspaper and read box scores rather than some of the headlines of late. Baseball season has began and I’m not missing out this year. Despite all of the rioting, the crowds on Opening Day were good, except in Chicago, where only 7,756 showed up at Comiskey Park to [...]
